The Company

Qarbotech develops a biocompatible solution that increases the photosynthesis rate of leafy plants, which help to shorten crop cycle and increase plant growth.

The Product

QarboGrow is currently the first photosynthesis enhancer in the market. Most farmers focus on the soil and nutrients for their crops. For the first time, we have technology that focuses on the leaves and their ability to absorb more light for photosynthesis.

Our technology complements fertilizers and other boosters, so we must work together hand in hand to support plants from root to tip.

Enhancing Photosynthesis to Feed
The World

Our patent-pending technology is a biocompatible solution that increases the photosynthesis rate of leafy plants. This helps to increase plant growth and shorten crop cycle.

We can also help you to precisely optimize the usage of grow light (for indoor farms) and the quantity of fertilizer in your farms to avoid wastage.

Decades of industrial farming have taken a heavy toll on the environment. Synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides contaminate water, soil, and human health. These conventional industrial farming practices are mainly done to increase crop yield. However, plant growth is also limited by the inefficient photosynthesis process. If we are able to increase the efficiency of photosynthesis, then it will be possible to promote more efficient farming.

Other efforts in the industry to increase the photosynthesis rate of plants revolve around genetic modification and complicated biotechnology. In contrast to those efforts, Qarbotech uses a novel yet simple approach by enhancing photosynthesis through its patent-pending bio-based solution. By increasing the efficiency of photosynthesis, we can achieve sustainable consumption and production and increase agricultural productivity. Furthermore, plants and trees have core roles to play in sustainable cities to ensure good air quality.

Increasing photosynthesis efficiency will also have a big impact on the reduction of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas in cities

Qarbotech has technology to enhance the photosynthesis rate of plants by 30%. This translates to 30% increase in plant growth, 25% reduction in crop cycle, and 20% increase in sweetness of fruits.

QarboGrow is the first photosynthesis enhancer in the market. QarboGrow-treated crops have shown resilience to drought It has the potential to benefit agriculture in countries which receive less sunlight.

QarboGrow can also optimize the usage of fertilizers. This will help to avoid excessive release of chemicals to the environment.

Our Team

Chor Chee Hoe | Chief Executive Officer

Chee Hoe is completing his MBA in the Asia School of Business, a collaboration between MIT Sloan and Bank Negara Malaysia. He has a business management degree from Open University Malaysia. He is professionally trained as a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer and holds Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licenses from European Aviation Safety Agency and Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia.

Prior to his MBA studies, Chee Hoe was in Firefly Airlines, simultaneously helming three roles due to his leadership skills; Head of Maintenance Support, Commercial Officer of MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), and Technical Trainer. He expanded the MRO business to Indonesia, Bangladesh, and South Korea. He has also provided technical consultation services to a few airlines and helped a regional airline in South Korea set up its supply chain management system.

As the Youth Leader of World Vision Malaysia, he is the change-maker of many community projects. In 2017, he initiated an advocacy camp to fund a health and nutrition project in Mai Chau, Vietnam. Through the 2-day camp, he raised more than RM60,000. Licensed by the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia, Chee Hoe also has extensive experience in investment management and unit trust.

Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid, CEng MIChemE | Chief Scientist

Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid is a Professor at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She received her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Nottingham University, United Kingdom in 2000. She then obtained her PhD in chemical engineering focusing on nanotechnology from Imperial College London, United Kingdom in 2004. She is a chartered engineer under the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and a nanotechnologist under the Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT).

She currently serves as the Deputy Director of Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), UPM. Her research interests revolve around carbon nanomaterials synthesis and processing for various applications. As the co-founder of Qarbotech Sdn. Bhd., she spends majority of her time developing the company with permission from UPM.

Mohamad Syazwan Abdul Rahman | Chief Financial Officer

Syazwan pursued his bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and Minor in Economics at Drake University, Iowa, USA. After he graduated in December 2015, he worked in CIMB Investment Bank Berhad under the management trainee program. He rotated in 3 different departments: Treasury, Digital Banking, and Transfor￾mation. Then he landed an associate position in the Corporate Finance department, where he was involved in developing transaction structures for capital raising exercises including M&A and IPO. He was also assigned to building financial models and valuation activities to evaluate capital raising exercises.

While crunching numbers for Qarbotech, Syazwan is working towards completing his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. He spends his free time reading books, mostly non-fiction, and writing Twitter threads, mainly on financial management for business.
