Chor Chee Hoe

Co-founder / Chief Executive Officer

With an MBA from the esteemed Asia School of Business, a joint venture between MIT Sloan and Bank Negara Malaysia, coupled with a background in aircraft maintenance engineering, Chee Hoe brings a wealth of leadership and management expertise to Qarbotech.

His extensive journey in the aviation industry, paired with his academic accolades, highlights Chee Hoe’s versatile skill set. Holding a business management degree from Open University Malaysia and professional licensure as an aircraft maintenance engineer from both the European Aviation Safety Agency and Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia, Chee Hoe’s educational and professional background forms a solid foundation for his role at Qarbotech. Additionally, certified by the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia, Chee Hoe’s proficiency in investment management and unit trusts adds another layer to his diverse skill set. His unwavering dedication to personal and professional growth, alongside his steadfast commitment to driving positive change, positions Chee Hoe as a pivotal force in driving Qarbotech’s vision for sustainable growth and global impact.

Prof. Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid, CEng MIChemE

Founder / Chief Scientist

Dr. Suraya Abdul Rashid is a Professor at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She received her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Nottingham University, United Kingdom in 2000.

She then obtained her PhD in chemical engineering focusing on nanotechnology from Imperial College London, United Kingdom in 2004. She is a chartered engineer under the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and a nanotechnologist under the Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT). She currently serves as the Director of Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2), UPM. Her research interests revolve around carbon nanomaterials synthesis and processing for various applications. She brings invaluable expertise in research and development and leads Qarbotech’s scientific endeavors.

Amirul Merican

Co-founder / Chief Operations Officer

Amirul was a Shell scholar and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering and Energy, Sustainability & the Environment (MEng, BA) from the University of Cambridge.

Commencing his career as a Strategy and Consulting Analyst at Accenture, Amirul contributed to various projects involving strategic planning, change management, and financial activities. Drawing from the experiences he acquired, Amirul co-founded a biotech company specializing in manufacturing Black Soldier Fly Larvae products. This venture focuses on applications in poultry, aquaculture, and pet food, as well as organic fertilizer. With his extensive experience in manufacturing and startup ventures, Amirul is well-equipped to lead operations at Qarbotech, bringing valuable insights and skills to drive the company’s growth and success.
